The NWTRPA Walking Challenge (previously known as Walk to Tuk) registration is open, and we want you to join us for the 2023 winter season!
There are many reasons to participate in the Walking Challenge, and it wouldn’t be possible without our amazing sponsors.
Throughout the challenge, community members, schools, and workplaces are encouraged to form teams and conceptually walk the length of the Big River, 1,658km from Zhatıé Kų́ę́/Fort Providence to Tuktuuyaqtuuq/Tuktoyaktuk. Participants have from January 2 to February 28, 2023, to get their team to the finish line in Tuktoyaktuk.
Did you know?
The Walking Challenge is a great way to stay active, healthy, and outside while being safe this winter.
Grand prizes, weekly draw prizes, team captain prizes, and prizes for photos and stories are available to be won.
The deadline to register a team is January 16, 2023.
“The Walking Challenge is such an amazing way to stay connected to each other and our environment.” Says Sheena Tremblay, Executive Director of the NWTRPA. “Participating in the Challenge is the perfect motivation to stay
active during the coldest and darkest time of year!”
In 2021, 5,579 people from 31 NWT communities and beyond participated in the challenge. This represents the largest participation the event has ever had, with 495 different teams, and 752, 215 kilometers walked. 2021 also saw the most participation from NWT residents ever.
See you on the way to Tuk!
