We are excited to introduce you to David our new On the Land Support Coordinator!
David was born in Alberta but raised in Yellowknife where he spent his childhood summers canoe tripping and learning On the Land skills. After graduation and a few years of backpacking, he enrolled at the University of Alberta to study Psychology. When he was not studying, he spent his summers returning to the North to guide and lead youth focused On the Land programs where his training in mental health advocacy and wellness blended with a passion for outdoor recreation.
While his position in the RPA is tied to On the Land programming, David also enjoys being active though recreational hockey. Learning to play as an adult has reinforced the notion that it is never too late to learn or take on a new challenge. His Golden Retriever Hank also keeps him quite busy!
David is joining the RPA as our On the Land Support Coordinator where he is responsible for assisting with the direction and delivery of NWTRPA On the Land programs support. He will be providing support to On the Land leaders across the NWT through training, networking/communications, and advocacy. You can reach David at dbrinston@nwtrpa.org.
