NWT Ski Day, Elders in Motion and Nordic Walking Photo Contest, presented by NWTRPA and the NWT Ski Division
Cross Country Skiing Categories
Category A - Ski Fun/Family/Friends
Themes: ski events, ski groups, extreme x-country skiing (jumps, speed etc.)
Category B - Ski Nature
Themes: Photos that depict the natural beauty of x-country skiing, skiers, technique or ski trails.
Elders in Motion Categories
Category A - Elders and Youth Lead the Way
Themes: Elders and youth gathering at school or community centre for a 5 minute walk on February 9th at 11:55am-Noon!
Category B - Traditional Fitness
Themes: Elders or Elders & Youth participating in a recent activity such as drum dancing, fiddle dancing, chopping wood, walking, picking berries, snowshoeing, etc
Nordic Walking Categories
Category A - Nordic Walking/Nature
Themes: photos that show Nordic Walkers in an outdoor setting, enjoying the natural beauty of their community; Trails, sunsets, etc.
Category B - Nordic Walking Family, Friends and Fun!
Themes: Photos that depict Nordic Walkers enjoying themselves with their family and friends. Use your imaginations… creativity is strongly encouraged!
Contest Rules:
- Contest is open to NWT residents.
- Photo must have NWT content and feature some element of x-country skiing, elders in motion or Nordic walking photos entered must not have been published previously.
- Entrants must have taken the photos themselves.
- Deadline is February 28th, 2010.
Prizes:
Cross Country Skiing
Winner Category A: to be confirmed.
Winner Category B: to be confirmed.
Elders in Motion
Winner Category A: Elders in Motion sweater, t-shirt, water bottle, coffee/tea mug.
Winner, Category B: Elders in Motion sweater, t-shirt, water bottle, coffee/tea mug.
Nordic Walking
For both categories: Nordic Walking Poles, water bottle/hip sack.
Publication:
Winning photos will be posted at www.nwtrpa.org. NWT Recreation and Parks Association reserve the right to publish or use any entry for promotion purposes. Winning entrants will be asked to ensure people in each photo have agreed to have their image published.
Submitting Photos:
All photographs must be submitted digitally and received no later than 11:59 pm, February 28th. Entries must indicate:
- The contestant’s name.
- Address and phone number.
- The photo category (ie. Ski North - ‘Ski Family…’ or Elders in Motion).

Judging:
The winners will be selected by a panel of judges. The decision of the judges is final.
Return of Entries:
All entries will remain the property of the NWT Recreation and Parks Association. CDs will not be returned
